School History
Sam Houston Math, Science, and Technology Center (SHMSTC) boasts a rich and lengthy history, starting as Houston Academy in 1878.

1886-1895: Became Houston Normal School.
1895-1926: Renamed Houston High School.
1926-1955: Became Central High School.
1955-2008: Renamed Sam Houston High School.
2008-present: Named Sam Houston Math, Science, and Technology Center.
